Company History
Founded in 1967, Austin Travis County Integral Care (ATCIC) prides itself on providing quality, community-based services for Travis County residents. ATCIC’s historical beginning marked the first time that public, community-based behavioral health and intellectual disabilities services became available, known as community centers.
Community centers are government agencies that receive city, county and state funds. Community centers are also 501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations, generating income through inter-local service agreements with other government entities and the private sector.
ATCIC was known as the Austin Travis County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center until September 2009, when its name was changed to reflect evolving attitudes and terminology and to honor the dignity of people who seek our services.
