Company Overview
Located 35 minutes north of Boston, Lowell Community Health Center has been providing high quality, affordable health care services for the community since 1970. The Health Center has nearly 300 employees, and over 62% of staff are bilingual. The Health Center has an annual operating budget of $29 million. Since only 63% of revenue is derived from fees and insurance reimbursements, an additional $6.4 million is raised each year through federal and state grant funding. The Health Center’s employees speak 28 different languages and over 80 staff are trained in medical interpreting. The Health Center accepts most private insurances along with MassHealth, Medicare, Commonwealth Care and Commonwealth Choice health plans. No patient will be denied health care services because of inability to pay. Since 2000, the Health Center has achieved Joint Commission accreditation for complying with rigorous national performance standards that promote quality health care delivery. To care for an estimated 10,000 additional Lowell residents who need affordable health care, the Health Center has moved to a new facility at 161 Jackson Street, doubling its square footage and integrating its many existing service sites. The Health Center is a diverse, community-based health care agency with non-profit 501(c)(3) status. Lowell Community Health Center programs have been recognized as national models. The Health Center was also named one of the top five health centers in the nation for excellence in cultural competency. Lowell Community Health Center's mission is to provide caring, quality and culturally competent health services to the people of Greater Lowell, regardless of their financial status; to reduce health disparities and enhance the health of the Greater Lowell community; and to empower each individual to maximize their overall well-being.
